A bit of history

The idea of publishing an electronic journal of the CSIC libraries began to take shape in mid-1997, and the first issue -number 0- was published in February 1998. The initial steps were taken at the C.BIC (Unidad de Coordinación de Bibliotecas, now URICI, Unidad de Recursos de Información Científica para la Investigación). It was conceived as a forum for communication and exchange of and for the libraries of the Network to create awareness of belonging to the same community of research center libraries. An "official" presentation of the publication was made at the end of 1997, in the auditorium of Jorge Manrique Street, former headquarters of URICI, in Madrid, with the attendance of a very notable representation of the directors of CSIC libraries. With the incorporation of the archives activity, since 2012 it is the journal of the Network of Libraries and Archives of the CSIC.

Enredadera had in its first years of life a stable editorial committee, with CSIC librarians who reproduced the configuration by geographical nodes that the Network had then. The committee was made up of URICI delegates in each zone, and a librarian from each zone: Andalusia (Gaspar Olmedo and Isabel Real); Catalonia (Assumpció Oró and Miquel Àngel Plaza-Navas); Madrid (Isabel Quintana, Julia García Maza and Domingo Arroyo); Valencia (Ana Alberola and Mercedes Martínez); and other zones (Carmen Pérez and Ángeles García Calvo).

This first editorial team chose the name of the journal: Enredadera, because of its significant relationship with the tree of science, symbol of the CSIC, and because it contains the word "red" in its interior. From 2001 the edition of the journal was centralized at URICI, using the Alfresco content management system. In February 2022 it began to be managed with OJS.

Coordination:

Mercedes Baquero (1998-2009)

During all these years there has been a support team for technical tasks related to graphic design, updating the website, layout and publication of contents, etc.

Julia Pérez Escribano (2009-2010)

Although the journal was conceived mainly for the professional collective of the CSIC Libraries and Archives Network, during the last few years we have tried to include the collaboration of some external professionals.
