The current development of neural networks allows reaching levels of similarity with human reasoning that until a few years ago could only be imagined in science fiction literature and cinema. This paper briefly explains what we understand, today, by artificial intelligence and the applications that can be implemented in our libraries and archives. The purpose will be, as always, to facilitate internal documentary work and enhance the services for our users, but now relying on a complete reorientation of our documentary systems, both in their internal organization and in the possible forms of information recovery, under the influence of these new technologies.
