Abstract

Science Europe is a key player in shaping European research policy. Founded in 2011 as the successor to EuroHORCs and ESF, it brings together 40 research funding and performing organisations from 30 countries to promote scientific collaboration, research excellence, and stronger policy influence. From its base in Brussels, it addresses strategic areas such as academic freedom, open science, gender equality, and sustainability. CSIC has been a key contributor since the beginning, with a strong presence in its governance and working groups. Science Europe is now driving forward its 2021–2026 Strategic Plan, focused on three pillars: research policy, research culture, and science's role in addressing societal challenges
