On Book Day 2007, the Platform Against Paid Lending in Libraries decided to start a signature campaign so that people who rejected the payment of a fee for lending books in libraries could ask the European Union to repeal Directive 2006/115/EC (formerly Directive 92/100/EEC), which regulates this fee.
