Following the XI Jornadas Españolas de Documentación, organized by Fesabid in May 2009 in Zaragoza (specifically the topics related to the social web and philosophy 2.0), and encouraged by the experiences of other libraries (universities of Alcalá de Henares, Seville...), the Library Coordination Unit decided to launch a blog which, in principle, was intended as a space for communication between CSIC libraries and their research users. ECo had no content restrictions, except for its professional context, to which in principle it was logical to adhere. It was born as a moderated blog, in which both entries and comments had to pass through the hands of an administrator before being published.
