The Archive of the Botanical Institute of Barcelona holds fundamental documents for understanding the history of botany in Catalonia since the end of the 19th century. It also holds what remains of the documentation belonging to the Salvador Family, an important saga of apothecaries and naturalists from Barcelona who carried out their activity from the 17th to the 19th century. The Institute's archival collection is made up of public and private documents, and it is sometimes difficult to determine their nature. On the one hand, there are documents derived from the activity of the public positions held by botanists in organizations and institutions. This is the case of the documents generated by the Natural Sciences Board of Barcelona (1906-1935) and by the Botanical Institute of Barcelona (1935-1994). This collection includes the documents produced by the former directors of the Institute: Pius Font i Quer (1888-1964), Antoni de Bolòs Vayreda (1940-1964) and Oriol de Bolòs Capdevila (1964-1984).
