Abstract

The Institute was founded in Madrid in 1940 under the name of the Fuel Institute. It was moved to Zaragoza in 1942 and located in basements, ceded by the University, in the current Paraninfo building, in the heart of the city. It changed its name again in 1965 and became the National Institute of Coal and its Derivatives. The current name of the Carbochemistry Institute was signed in 1975. It is located on the Río Ebro University Campus in Zaragoza, with its own centre inaugurated on 20-12-1994.
