Abstract

Scientific libraries have always been unique because of the specialized information they handle, but in recent years they have become less and less like a conventional library, having become authentic information systems, both receivers and transmitters, and located at the center of the information flows of institutes. Without abandoning our traditional tasks, librarians have been taking on new functions, pressed by the new needs of researchers and by the demands for visibility imposed on us by society.
