For some time now, it has become clear that there are millions of people researching and producing scientific and technical information on an ongoing basis, and that this is increasing. It is very important to try to guarantee the univocal identification of authors for the proper dissemination, visibility and recognition of their own contributions. Author identifiers and their standardized public profiles are a preferred way to achieve this. During the last quarter of 2014, national calls for research projects were held in which, for the first time, ORCID researcher identifiers were requested, in addition to the already traditional Researcher ID (WoS) and Scopus ID. In relation to this, our Library received many questions and doubts about the procedures to follow for the creation of such identifiers.
