Abstract

HISPANA (http://hispana.mcu.es) is a key element of the so-called European Digital Heritage Ecosystem, which is the result of a European-wide strategy to standardise procedures and techniques for digitising its cultural heritage and making it available online. This strategy began with the EC Recommendation on the digitisation and online accessibility of cultural material and digital preservation (European Commission, 2006). HISPANA was founded in March 2006 as ROAI, a directory for collecting digital resources.
