That libraries are in a permanent state of change and that they are no longer what they used to be is something that almost no one doubts anymore. Our ways of accessing information have also changed and libraries have been adapting to the digital environment for some time now. What is the point, then, of organizing a series of talks when supposedly all information is available online? And on the other hand, should specialized libraries open up to a general public beyond the scope of the network of scientists and researchers? These are some of the questions that the Library of the Royal Botanic Garden (RJB) has asked itself when organizing the series of talks The Written Garden. Biodiversity through its publications, which was held in its reading room during the 2016-2017 academic year.
